What to expect
A first Sabbath, step by step.
Arriving
Come a few minutes early.
Greeters at the entrance will help you find a seat. If you arrived for Sabbath School (9:30), they'll point you to a class you might enjoy. No need to introduce yourself — only do so if you'd like to.
What to wear
Dress as you'd dress for a respectful gathering.
You'll see suits, dresses, slacks, and Sunday-best across the congregation. There's no dress code. If you're comfortable and presentable, you're dressed right.
Children
Bring them. Please bring them.
Kids are part of worship at Lilliput. Sabbath School has classes by age starting at 9:30. During the sermon, the Children's Wing is available for the youngest. Crying babies do not faze us.
Communion
An open table — but no pressure.
Communion is held quarterly, on the first Sabbath of each quarter. It is open to all who profess faith in Christ. If you'd rather observe than participate, simply pass the elements on — no one will press you.
Offering
You are our guest.
An offering is collected each week, but as a visitor you are not expected to give. The plate will pass — feel free to let it pass. The church is welcoming you, not asking for your wallet.
After the service
Stay if you can.
Fellowship lunch is offered some Sabbaths in the Fellowship Hall. Otherwise, members often linger to talk on the church grounds. If you'd like to be introduced to the pastor or an elder, just ask a greeter.
Common questions
Things people actually ask.
Why do you worship on Saturday?
Seventh-day Adventists keep the seventh-day Sabbath — Saturday — because the Bible identifies it as the day God set apart at creation and reaffirmed in the Ten Commandments. Sabbath is rest, worship, and time with family and community.
Is it okay if I just want to observe?
Absolutely. You can come, sit, sing or not sing, participate or just listen. We'd love to meet you, but only on your timeline.
Can I bring food / Is there a fellowship lunch?
Many Sabbaths the church hosts fellowship lunch after the Divine Service. You don't need to bring anything as a visitor — and you don't need to stay if you don't want to.
What translation of the Bible do you use?
Sermons typically reference the King James Version or the New King James Version. You'll often hear other translations quoted as well. Bring whatever Bible you have — or none at all; we have copies to borrow.
Do I need to be Adventist to attend?
Not at all. The church is open to everyone. Membership is a separate step that happens only when you decide you want it.
Can I watch online before visiting?
Yes — the Sabbath service is livestreamed and recorded. Watch this week's service.
Have a question we didn't answer?
Reach out. We'll get back to you.
No question is too small. The church office responds within a day or two.
